Established and launched in August 2001, Project RENEW is a cooperative initiative that brought together the Quang Tri Department of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund in an unprecedented humanitarian partnership.  This endeavor is based on shared goals for peace and understanding, and our mutual responsibilities to make Vietnam safe for future generations.  Vietnamese government officials have called Project RENEW one of the most successful mine action models to be introduced in Vietnam since  NGO involvement in the ERW issue first began in 1996.
