PROJECT RENEW STAFF

Mr. Hoang Nam, Project Coordinator

Hoang Nam is the Coordinator of Project RENEW, a cooperation program between VVMF and Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs to deal with the postwar landmine problem in Quang Tri province.

Nam is also the Vice Director of Quang Tri Department of Foreign Affairs, which is in charge of external relations and international cooperation activities include mobilizing, coordinating and managing international non-government organization projects within the province. He has nearly fifteen years of working experience in the fields of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and has managed a number of government and non-government projects.

Nam graduated from Economics University and Science University, completed Foreign Affairs Competence Course at Hanoi Institute of International Relations, English and Communication Skills Course in Singapore and recently the International Program for Development Evaluation Training in Canada and a number of other management courses in country and abroad. He has involved in setting up, developing and managing Project RENEW since 2001, the first ever integrated and comprehensive humanitarian mine action project in Quang Tri, Vietnam.


Mr. Nguyen Hieu Trung, Administrative Manager

Nguyen Hieu Trung has served as an Administrative Manager for Project RENEW from December 2007 to June 2008 and then Clearance/ R&D program Operations Manager to the end of 2008. Since the beginning of 2009, he returns to serve as an Administrative Manager of the Project RENEW.

Trung's responsibilities are to provide overall administration of the project, also assist programs in planning, operating, managing, monitoring and evaluating. He earned a B.A degree of Agriculture Economic and Rural Development from Hue Economic University, B.A degree of English from Hue Linguistics University as well as a number of internal and international certificates.

Prior to working for Project RENEW, he worked as Planning Specialist under Quang Tri Planning and Investment Department for 9 years.


Mr. Dang Quang Toan, Mine Victim Assistance Manager

Dang Quang Toan joined Project RENEW to work as Coordinator Assistant in late 2004, assisting Project Coordinator in organizing and following-up Project RENEW Coordination Office activities. In 2006, Toan was assigned to work as Program Assistant for Mine Victim Assistance to support Project Officer in charge of Mine and Cluster Victim Assistance Program to implement and archive the planned activities. After Project RENEW expanded its activities in 2007, he has taken over RENEW Mine Victim Assistance program since then.

Toan is a focal point in working withlocal partners and Tromsoe Mine Victim Resource Center/Trauma Care Foundation (TMC/TCF), Norway experts to deploy mine & cluster victim assistance and trauma care activities and make plans and prepare proposals for raising funds to enhance assistance quality to mine & cluster victims, their families and trauma care in Quang Tri Province. He is also responsible for liaising and organizing cultural and sport exchange events between international friends and local youth.

Toan earned a BA degree in English from Quy Nhon University in June 2004 and has participated in a number of training courses, workshops in country and abroad.


Ms. Le Thi Thuy Hang, Mine Risk Education Manager

Le Thi Thuy Hang joined Project RENEW as a Program Assistant since October 2004. In August 2007, Hang took the responsibilities of Mine and ERW Risk Education Program Officer. Her main task are to prepare proposals, make plan, carry-out and monitor and supervise all RENEW’s MRE activities.

Hang also works with a large network of Youth Union volunteers, local government officials and local television and radio station to raise awareness and influence, draw interest of local community about the necessity of international treaty and convention on landmines and cluster bombs through various social-cultural-sport events event in the field. In addition, she also works as a cashier.

Prior to working for RENEW, she had worked for Quang Tri Tax Department.Hang holds a B.A degree in Planning and Development from Hanoi National Economics University and she participated in a few of training courses locally and internationally.


Mr. Ngo Thien Loi, Mushrooms-with-a-Mission Manager

Ngo Thien Loi is in charge of Mushrooms-with-a-Mission program which is a special poverty reduction effort for UXO victims and their families in partnership with the Humpty Dumpty Institute. The program is aimed at providing new tools and equipment for participating families to grow mushrooms for sustainable incomes.

Loi joined the Project RENEW in June 2008 as an Administrative Officer and from the beginning of 2009, he moved to serve as an Operation Manager of Research & Development program.

Loi earned a B.A degree in English from Hanoi University of Foreign Studies in 2002 and in Finance from Banking Institute in 2005. Before joining Project RENEW, he used to work for World Vision International Vietnam as Community-based Rehabilitation (CBR) Program Officer and VietNam Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) as Customer-Relation Department Officer.


Mr. Dinh Ngoc Vu, EOD/BAC Operations Manager

Vu currently works as EOD/BAC Program Operations Manager. He is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the Rapid Response EOD program and related development of the team in Quang Tri Province, within the policy and strategy framework of Project RENEW and with local Humanitarian Mines Action (HMA) authorities and operators. He is the Project RENEW focal point in mine action activities and motivates for synergy and further cross- utilization of resources between the HMA assets integrated into Project RENEW and other provincial HMA programs to match the strategy of Project RENEW.

Before joining Project RENEW in April 2007 firstly as a Public Relations and Development Officer, he held the positions of Technical Interpreter and then Technical Operations Officer for Mines Advisory Group (MAG) from 2003 until March 2007.

Vu earned a B.A degree in English from Hanoi University of Foreign Studies in 2002 and he is currently following a distance-learning Business Management B.A degree conducted by Danang Economics University.


Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Financial Manager

Nguyen Van Thanh was the Finance/Administration Assistant for Project RENEW when the project began in 2001 and currently holds the position of Finance Officer. His main tasks are to provide a wide range of finance which include controlling the adherence to finance procedures, accounting, etc.

Thanh’s education and working experience has focused on the field of financial accounting. He earned a B.A degree in Financial Accounting at Hanoi National Economy University in 1993. Before joining Project RENEW, he had eight years experience working as an accountant and chief accountant for Quang Tri Construction Number 1 Ltd Company and Quang Tri Trade Company respectively.


Mr. Phan Van Hung, Information/Database Manager

Phan Van Hung joined Project RENEW to work as an Information/ Database Management Officer in March 2003. He was engaged in translations of some books and desktop designed of some project materials.

Hung is capable of using GIS software and instrumental in establishing and then managing and upgrading information system/ database for project staffs, interested individuals/organizations and authorities’ reference in the field of mines action.

 Prior to working for Project RENEW, Hung was a Technical Interpreter for Solidarity International Organization – GERBERA for four years. Hung earned a B.A degree in English from Hanoi University of Foreign Studies in 1997 and finished the FEMAC training.


Mr. Ngo Xuan Hien, Development & Public Affairs Officer

Hien joined Project RENEW in June 2008 as Operations Officer for RENEW's humanitarian demining Research & Development program funded by the U.S. DoD. Since February 2009, he has been tasked with development and public affairs, responsible for presenting and explaining Project RENEW’s mission and achievements to the public and media.

As a primary point of contact for donors, government representatives, and visitors to Project RENEW, Hien is responsible for conceptualizing and designing presentations and development proposals for fund raising and other activities. He is also responsible for maintaining updated content for RENEW website.

Hien holds a Bachelor degree in English. He taught English at a high school for two years after gradution in 1998. From 2000 to 2008, Hien worked as Secretary/Interpreter for a public administration reform program under the funding of Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency at the provincial Department of Home Affairs.


Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu Linh, Operations Support Officer

Ms. Linh joined Project RENEW in Feb 2009 as Operation Officer/Interpreter for the U.S. DoD funded humanitarian demining R&D program. She has been an Operations Support Officer for RENEW EOD/BAC program since March 2010. Her main duties are to directly assist the Operations Manager in managing and monitoring EOD and clearance operations in coordination with team leaders, national and international technical experts in planning, reporting and oversight of field operations.

Before joining Project RENEW, during 2007-2008, Linh was an Interpreter/Facilitator for the Chia se Project Management Unit in Gio Linh District, Quang Tri Province (Vietnam - Sweden "Chia se" Poverty Alleviation Program). She earned a B.A. in English from Hue College of Foreign Languages in 2007.


Ms. Tran Thi Tu Van, Finance Officer

Tran Thi Tu Van joined Project RENEW as a Mine Risk Education Assistant since August 2007. Van was then switched over to work for EOD program of Project RENEW since May 2008 as a Project Support Officer. Van is responsible for providing logistical support for the project in procurement, importation, stock holding & taking procedures. She also provides administrative support in all project office and project personnel administrative issues, assists Operations Manager in translating documentations and supporting all partner's administrative requirements inclusive of asset management, assisting in reporting for present and future project researches.

Van earned a B.A degree in Environmental Science from Dalat University in 2005. Before joining Project RENEW, she worked for Danang Urban and Environment Company (URENCO) from 2005-2007.


Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Huyen, Finance Assistant

Tran Thi Thanh Huyen joined Project RENEW as a Finance Assistant since August 2007. Her main tasks are to assist Finance Officer in controlling the adherence to finance procedures, accounting etc. She also helps to carry out the financial and logistical work of Clearance/R&D Program as well as to supply the Office stationeries. After R&D Program under GW ended in March 2010, she has worked as Logistics Officer for EOD/BAC program under NPA until now.

Huyen earned a B.A degree in English from Danang University of foreign languages in 2005. She has been studying the second university degree of finance accounting from Da Nang University of Economics since 2008.

Prior to working for Project RENEW, she used to work as administrative assistant for Management Board of West-East Corridor Project for a half of year. Then she worked for EVN telecommunications as finance assistant and salesclerk. She was also a receptionist for Friendship Hotel.


Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phu, Visitor Center Assistant Manager

Phu is working as an Assistant Manager of Project RENEW’s Visitor Center and responsible for welcoming foreign visitors and introducing them about the Vietnam War and its consequences as well as ongoing demining efforts of the local people and authorities and mine action projects funded by international NGOs including Project RENEW. Part of his responsibility is to accompany visitors to visit the old battlefields in the former Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) area and its vicinity upon request.  

Before joining Project RENEW in July 2010, Nguyen Thanh Phu worked as a tour guide for a couple of travel agencies in the central region of Vietnam. Phu holds a B.A degree in English from Duy Tan University in Danang City.


Mr. Ho Sy Khuong, Field Interpreter

Ho Sy Khuong has joined Project RENEW as Field Interpreter since July 2008. He has the responsibilities of providing daily interpretation activities at project sites with EOD team. He also responded for writing and translating Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) program's reports.

Khuong held a B.A degree in English from DuyTan University in Danang city. He used to work for Quang Tri Trade Company Limited as a DMZ English-speaking tour guide. 

 


Mr. Nguyen Trong Dong, Information/Database Officer

Nguyen Trong Dong joined Project RENEW since August 2007 to assist Information/ Database Management Officer in managing the project landmine website and storing, backing up project information. He also is in charge of monitoring all project computer devices in proper operation.

Dong earned a B.A degree in Informatics and Maths from Da Nang University in 2005. Prior to working for Project RENEW, Dong taught iInformatics at Quang Tri Technical Training and Vocational Guidance Center. 


Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Driver

Nguyen Thanh Ha has been the driver of Project RENEW since 2003. His main responsibilities are to take project staffs out for business and pick up guests and delegations. He is also responsible for certain local purchase and logistic tasks. 

 

 


Ms. Le Thi My Loan, Office Help

Le Thi My Loan started working for Project RENEW as an office help in Feb 2008. Her duties are to keep our working office clean and cool and to assist our financial staff with some administrative work.

Loan usually comes to work early in the morning and gets home only after everyone has left the office. Visitors who visit our office will be given a cup of tea or coffee upon your favor which is well prepared with her carefulness.
